New monitoring of Waterloo Wind Farm

by Ivy Bateman | ABC West Coast SA | 31/01/2013 | abc.net

The EPA will begin monitoring of low frequency noise around the Waterloo Wind Farm in the Mid North of South Australia later this year.

That’s according to the Director of Science and Assessment with the Environment Protection Authority Peter Dolan.

He told the ABC’s Annette Marner that monitoring would begin in April.

He was on air following discussions that took place between himself, the EPA’s Chief Executive Campbell Gemmel, Clare & Gilbert Valley Council representatives and residents earlier today.

Also in the Clare Valley today approximately fifty people attended a public meeting with Associate Professor Dr Con Doolan of Adelaide University to hear about his research on infrasound levels in homes a few kilometres away from the turbines.

That’s according to advocate Mary Morris who attended both meetings and says some local people don’t want the Waterloo Wind farm to be extended.

Turbines are present about thirty kilometres from Clare and more are planned.
