Rep. Mele Carroll has proposed a bill that would prohibit wind farms on ag land on Molokai and Lanai.
House Bill 1335 also bans wind turbines from being sited within two miles of homes and sets noise standards.
A similar measure, aimed at stopping the so-called Big Wind project, failed in the Legislature last year.
Carroll, who is from Maui, introduced this year’s bill “by request of another party,” according to the state Legislature web site. Lawmakers are not required to disclose the party for whom they are introducing a bill.
