The Tazewell County Board of Supervisors has received the help of a powerful lobbying group in its efforts to block what one supervisor thinks is the latest attempt by Dominion Power to develop a wind energy farm on East River Mountain.
Charles Stacy, the eastern district representative on the board of supervisors, said the Virginia Association of Counties is “adamantly opposed” to SB 1341, a bill in the Virginia General Assembly that would exempt renewable energy facilities from local zoning and ordinances.
According to Stacy, the Tazewell board is now unanimous in its opposition to the legislation that is now headed to the Senate Committee on Local Government.
For additional details on the county’s position on this issue, see Friday’s edition of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
