Ruiz unresponsive to Casna’s inquiry about remedial measures

KINGSTON- At last Monday’s Board of Health (BOH) meeting, Chairman Joseph Casna asked the co-manager of the Kingston Wind Independence Turbine, Kially Ruiz, if he saw “any scenario by which any measures of relief can be provided to these homeowners.”

Ruiz and his lawyers were “not prepared” to answer Casna’s question but offered a response “within a week.”

Eight days later, Casna and the KingstonBoard of Health are still awaiting a response from Ruiz.

“I’m absolutely disappointed,” Casna told the Journal on Thursday after Kingston Health Agent Henny Walters confirmed that no answer had yet been received by Ruiz or his lawyers.

“What I’m asking [Ruiz] to do…he’s not required by law to answer but he made a personal commitment to me,” Casna said.

Last Monday, Casna urged Ruiz to “take the request seriously.” Ruiz simply nodded his head up and down in response.

Last week, Casna told the Journal that he believed “remediation is key” to solving the complaints about Kingston’s four supersized wind turbines. Casna also sent a “follow-up letter” to Ruiz last Thursday to assure the question would not be overlooked.

“We need good people to get together,” Casna told the Journal last Thursday. “There needs to be compromise, as difficult as it will be for some.”

John Yunits, an attorney for Mary O’Donnell, has already offered his services as a mediator to the BOH on behalf of O’Donnell.

Casna said he still expects a response from Ruiz.
