More than 60 people have signed an e-petition calling for Staffordshire’s skyline to be protected from wind turbines.
Concerned residents launched the petition on Staffordshire County Council’s website and had until the deadline today to gather signatures.
They claim wind turbines are inefficient, have a ‘long-term detriment on the environment’ and affect tourism. The petition calls for other forms of renewable energy to be explored instead.
It comes just as the county council has drawn up a policy statement aimed at restricting the development of wind farms in Staffordshire. The guidelines include ensuring these farms are at least a mile away from residential areas.
