Turbines troubling

There is such concern in our community regarding a proposed wind turbine farm that the residents met and formed the Hillside Boularderie and Area Concerned Citizens Group.
We have many issues regarding the placement of these industrial-sized turbines in a residential area. Carmen Krogh, an expert on “adverse health effects and industrial wind turbines,” recommends they should have a minimum setback of two kilometres from residences. Health Canada is studying the health effects of wind turbines.
A petition was circulated in the area, stating that we were opposed to this wind farm. About 85 per cent of our neighbours (298 signatures) signed this petition, which was tabled in the legislature by our MLA, Keith Bain.
I enjoy my daily walks along the lake and to our provincial park at Groves Point. I often sit on a park bench and watch the bald eagles, ravens and other birds soaring over the beautiful Bras d’Or lakes and the hills. That will all change if this company, Natural Forces, is allowed to construct these turbines on the hills overlooking the park.
The company will walk away, leaving us with noise, increased health risks and stress on residents, negative visual impact, plus the carcasses of many birds that will be carved up by the large rotating blades. Not in my back yard.
