Wind concern in Wasaga; Councillors concerned about impact of wind turbines on Collingwood airport

Wasaga Beach is the latest area municipality to express concern over how wind turbines will affect the Collingwood Regional Airport.

Council unanimously passed a motion on Tuesday to let the Ministry of the Environment know that it believes documents submitted in support of the WPD Canada project are inadequate because there has not been an assessment of any possible negative environmental effects on the airport.

WPD plans to build the turbines at Fairgrounds Road and County Road 91 and four of the 500 foot structures will be in or near the flight path of the airport.

On December 3rd, Collingwood council approved the same recommendation from the Airport Services Board.

Clearview Township council will be asked to do the same.
