Sacrificing aesthetics, property values to wind tech

The Plain Dealer | December 19, 2012 | cleveland.com

I read with some concern the article regarding LEEDCo’s grant for wind turbines on Lake Erie. Most of us pay a premium on property that has a view. Lakefront property is especially expensive. Wind turbines are very ugly. They will destroy or at least disrupt that view.

Will the power company or the state compensate the landowners in line of sight of the turbines for lost property value? What regulations are in place to preserve property values? Will downtown development be hurt because “lakefront” hotels can’t charge more for “lake view rooms”? What about downtown condo developments?

It is a shame that so-called energy progress involves destroying one of the best parts of our environment.
