Nine out of ten oppose Ascog wind farm plan

Nearly nine out of ten public comments on the proposed Ascog Farm wind turbines are against the controversial project, according to figures released by Argyll and Bute Council.
The authority’s local planning officer, Steven Gove, has written to applicant Adrian Tear’s agent, Gilliane Mallia, to inform her that of the 571 public comments made so far, 504 – or 88.26 per cent – oppose the plans for three turbines on Ascog Hill, each measuring 74 metres from ground to blade tip.
Sixty-four comments (11.2 per cent) are expressions of support, and the remaining three responses neither object to nor support the plans.
Mr Gove has also confirmed to Ms Mallia that it is “entirely conceivable” that the fate of the plans will be decided by a discretionary hearing of the council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee, “given the level of interest that the proposal has generated”.
