Tama County Supervisors reset a hearing to hear public comments concerning establishment of an Urban Renewal area for the sites of 20 wind turbines and a substation near Gladbrook. The project is part of the Mid-American Energy Vienna Wind Farm. A planned meeting with Green Mountain-Garwin and Gladbrook-Reinbeck school officials was postponed on Monday to allow for proper notice to be provided to the school districts. A tax-increment financing plan is in the works to use tax money above what is currently received for the properties involved (increment) for county road projects. Supervisors plan to meet with the school representatives next week. The public hearing will be then held on Wednesday, Dec. 26 in he Supervisors meeting room in the Tama County Administration Building, 103 W. state, Toledo at 10 a.m. Supervisors met with Skip Lowe, president of Bernie Lowe and associates, the county’s insurance administrator to review the quarterly self-funded county employee health insurance report. It showed what Lowe said were about average claims paid for the 122 county employees. In the weekly Road report, County engineer Lyle Brehm told supervisors: •overhead doors will be installed on the new road maintenance building in Garwin with plumbing and concrete floor work yet to be done. •county trucks are generally ready for winter snowfall with plows, wings and spreading devices yet to be attached. •wings will be attached to maintainers when there is threat of snow. Until that time some light grading of fence rows will be done to reduce drifting snow deposits on roadways. Fence removal and f grading permission is sought from individual landowners.
