New Era gets extension for answering questions

By Post-Bulletin Staff | December 4, 2012 | postbulletin.com

New Era Wind Farm LLC, which is trying to build a major wind farm in Goodhue County, has received an extension until Dec. 15 to answer Public Utilities Commission questions about its finances, ownership and other details about its business plan.

The commission gave New Era 11 questions on Oct. 31. The company on Nov. 15 sought a 60-day extension but received only 30 days.

The company that has planned the project has changed names and owners several times. Now, Peter Mastic is listed as the owner but he must get local investors before the project can begin.

In addition, several opponents of the project have filed complaints with the commission, asking that it rescind the site permit because it’s now a new company and has not been being truthful on all its replies. Mastic has to reply to each of them and the commission will review his replies. No reply has yet been filed with the commission.
