Four Fullabrook wind turbines to be repaired

November 26, 2012 | www.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk

Four turbines at Fullabrook wind farm are having to be repaired this week after gearbox faults were identified.

Fullabrook operators ESB say turbine manufacturers Vestas have conceded there is a known defect which affects four of the turbines at Fullabrook.

The four turbines will be out of use for two days while the problem is repaired.

ESB spokesman Kieran O’Neill said: “Vestas are replacing the affected gearboxes under warranty and service contracts.

“The gearbox is located in the nacelle and requires a crane to be onsite for lifting purposes.

“This work will be done under the main service contract and will not impact on the overall availability targets for the wind farm.”
