Islandmagee turbine plan refused

Larne Times | 25 November 2012 | www.larnetimes.co.uk

Planners have refused an application for a proposed wind turbine in Islandmagee, claiming that it could have an adverse affect on certain local wildlife.

Applicant Paul Crawford was seeking approval for a turbine to be installed on a 15m monopole tower at his property on 15 Quarterland Road. The turbine would have been used for domestic purposes.

But the Planning Service refused the application on the grounds that “insufficient information” was submitted to demonstrate that the proposal would not have a detrimental impact on bats, which are protected under conservation regulations.

Planning NI received no letters of objection to the application.
