The first of a series of open days on a proposed large-scale windfarm on Fara takes place in Flotta today, Thursday.
The island’s owners, S. & J. D. Robertson Group Ltd, are holding the events prior to submitting their plans for the development to Orkney Islands Council.
The proposals for Fara, the uninhabited island lying between Hoy and Flotta in Scapa Flow, include seven 3MW turbines with a hub-height of 84.58 metres, located 410 metres apart on existing fields.
The open days will take place today, November 22, between 3pm and 6pm at the Flotta Community Centre; tomorrow, Friday, in the North Walls School, between 6pm and 9pm; and on December 11, at the St Magnus Centre in Kirkwall, between 2pm and 7pm.
