One-sided debate

Merimbula News | Nov. 7, 2012 | www.merimbulanewsonline.com.au

IntoIT are hosting an “informative debate” on renewable energy in Merimbula, on November 8.

So far there are three highly pro renewable energy speakers arranged to answer Q&A style questions: Dr Mike Kelly, Infigen’s David Griffin, and CEFE’s Matthew Nott, the sales pitch if you like.

To be a truly informative discussion, there needs to be some devils advocates also on the panel.

My concern is that the panel should not all be sales people, but include objective and unbiased critical examiners, and qualified representatives for the adverse aspects of the industry, such as wind farms.

Ensuring that no one is disadvantaged is no bad thing, and we need to know what we are actually dealing with (“the pros” and all of “the cons”) in order to protect the well-being of all concerned.

One day soon, we may all be surrounded by wind farms, with no way of avoiding their adverse consequences.

Articles from www.wind-watch.org/news/category/locations/oceania/australia/ should prompt some relevant and salutary questions.
