Wind farm opponents continue campaign on the Herefordshire border

A campaign group looks set to continue its fight to stop a wind farm being built in the county.
Herefordshire Council last week approved an application to vary planning conditions relating to the Reeves Hill Wind Farm near Presteigne.
The council approved the wind farm development itself back in September last year, granting Bolsterstone Innovative Energy permission to site four turbines.
But the firm could not start work until Powys County Council gave permission for a major access road on the Welsh side of the site.
This led to Bolsterstone seeking permission to change the angle and “visibility splays” of site entrances on the Herefordshire side of the border.
With the news that those variations have been approved under delegated powers, members of the Stonewall Hill Conservation Group (SHCG) –which was set up to oppose the wind farm plans – have now claimed the whole planning process has been mirred by a “catalogue of errors”.
Stephen Hugh-Jones, SHCG chairmain, has claimed that the site maps submitted by developers – then uploaded onto the Herefordshire Council website during the consultation period – should not have been accepted by planners at all because they did not carry important features such as the England and Wales borderline.
In a report confirming the approval, the planning officer said: “The proposed development variation is considered acceptable in consideration of the planning approval already granted.
“The letters of objection received from members of the public have been considered and are not considered to raise any valid planning issues of concern in relationship to this specific application.
