GLUC approves UOG wind turbine project

Guam – After receiving testimony on the project for the past few months, the GLUC unanimously voted to approve the University of Guam’s zone variance request for its wind turbine project. The request proposed that instead of installing its initial two wind turbine towers, it would only install a smaller 70′ tower in UOG’s Dean’s Circle near House 32. UOG was granted a three-year permit in which for every year they must report back to the GLUC for approval and provide data on information collected.

The initial request received opposition from Mangilao residents living near the site. The wind turbine project would assist with research and data collection on how effective systems like these would be for the island.
