East Lothian News | 19 October 2012 | www.eastlothiannews.co.uk

Councillors are furious at a Scottish Government decision to allow a 78 metre high wind turbine to be erected in an area of outstanding landscape value at Innerwick.

They are now calling for a meeting with Derek MacKay, Minister for Local Planning and Government, after Hector Macaskill’s appeal was upheld.

Councillor Michael Veitch, depute leader of East Lothian Council, said: “I am appalled at the outcome of this appeal which flies in the face of the council’s locally formulated policy.

“Both the council and the residents of East Lothian are entitled to demand an explanation from the Scottish Government as to why local concerns have been dismissed in this way.”

Councillor Veitch and Councillor Willie Innes, council leader, have written to Mr MacKay to express “considerable dissatisfaction” with the government Reporter’s decision.
