Wind project will bring wind’s problems closer to Madison

Epic Systems is bringing wind energy and its associated problems to Madison rural residents in the town of Springfield – up close and personal. Now it will bring all of the noise, stray voltage and shadow flicker problems closer to the Capitol. The spokesperson for the company even admits it in this article, stating that at least those issues – noise and shadow flicker – should only affect the hosting landowners. Google “low frequency noise/ infrasound.” Inaudible LFN can travel up to two miles, enter concrete structures and damage one’s inner ear mechanism.

Understand and remember that at least three homes in the Kewaunee County wind project were bought out and bulldozed.

What is now happening is that wind developers are offering in some cases up to $16,000 per wind turbine per year sited on hosting landowners’ property – in some cases five times what was offered and paid to landowners in the Fond du Lac area wind projects. Why have they upped their offer? A major reason is that the Production Tax Credits (federal taxpayer dollars) are running out on Dec. 31 unless renewed in Washington. Epic Systems admitted they are running out of time to get the taxpayer money and site these turbines.

I regret having to bring this to your attention at all. I love Madison and the area around it. I went to school at UW.
