Dark sky fears over windfarm

www.ayradvertiser.com 14 October 2012 |

Councillors objected to a proposed wind farm last week after concerns were raised about affects on the Dark Sky Park.

South Ayrshire Council’s regulatory panel were last week consulted by Scottish Ministers about a planning application for a wind farm at Dersalloch, near Straiton, where they officially lodged an objection.

Dersalloch wind farm is set to be sited on an 850 hectare area, approximately 4 kilometres east of Straiton and 6 kilometres west of Dalmellington. The wind farm would have 23 turbines, 16 of which would be 125 metres to the tip, with the remaining 7,115 metres to blade tip.

Read the full story and discover the full list of problems the windfarm would cause in this week’s paper, out now.
