Protest against SNP wind policy: Perth, Saturday 20th October

Concerned About Wind Turbines | www.cawt.co.uk

Dear Supporter, here is the second Perth Protest update for you to pass on to friends, family, interested parties and to share on facebook.

Alex Salmond has now been scheduled to appear at the conference on the afternoon of Saturday 20th October.

We’ve now had permission, from the police, to march to the Concert Hall from South Inch Park. We intend to gather at 11am by the South Inch car park and we will forward the route and more information nearer the time.

Please bring drums, whistles, megaphones – whatever – and be prepared to make a noise! We are looking for at least one piper who would be willing to join us and lead the procession. Please use the contact email war.on.wind@btinternet.com or contact phone number 07590 994690 if you or anyone you know might be willing to oblige.

Please feel free to bring the family – children are especially welcome. This is a peaceful, orderly protest and as children are becoming more aware of the threat to their surroundings and wildlife by industrial wind farm development they want to join in. Children (and adults!) may like to wear wildlife or bat or bird facepaint/ masks/costumes – perhaps homemade – to send out a powerful message against the destruction of these species by turbines. There will be prizes for the best efforts.

Please bring your own placards, leaflets, cartoons etc. Any placard or banner should have large enough text to be read or photographed by the media from a distance. Remember to try and link wind farm development to the independence issue if possible.

It has also been requested, by a local group, that Perth & Kinross council allow a blimp to be flown at the height of the turbines many are now threatened with living next to, in North Inch park on the same day. The council are dragging their feet and are reluctant to grant permission. They have had plenty of notice but refuse to confirm if they will allow this public awareness exercise to take place. There is now to be a committee meeting, this week, to decide whether to grant this reasonable request.

If anyone would like to put pressure on the council to permit this, so people can actually see what an impact the height modern turbines will have in the landscape and from how far they will be seen, please do so by contacting:

Perth & Kinross Council, Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth, PH1 5GD. Telephone 01738 475000. Email enquiries@pkc.gov.uk.

Finally please help us to spread the word. We want this to be the biggest protest against wind development that Scotland has seen.

• Pass this update to family, friends and anyone you know who has objected to wind development.
• Send out the short announcement, at the end of this update, to any organisations, groups or clubs (eg local nature groups, ramblers’ groups etc) you belong to who don’t like SNP wind policy, for whatever reason, and ask them to post the announcement on their website, facebook pages, newsletters etc etc or inform their members.

Please come and show this SNP Government that we are not prepared to stand by and watch this destruction of Scotland continue in the name of ‘green energy’.

Not Clean, Not Green, Not Cheap
Too Tall, Too Close, Too Many
