Last Sunday, EDP Renewables, an owner and operator of wind turbines near Lowville, NY received a “low on oil warning signal” on its wind turbine number 286.
Oil had leaked out of the gear box as a result of the nacelle receiving three gun shots. Number 286 has been put out of commission and others are undergoing inspection to determine if it was a lone incident.
It is my understanding that the appropriate law enforcement agencies are investigating.
