Supporting their cause

The Multi-Municipal Wind Turbine Group comprised of elected representative and appointed citizens from municipalities in Bruce, Grey, Dufferin, Huron and Perth counties expresses support for the court action against the provincial government undertaken by Shawn and Trish Drennan and their lawyer, Julian Falconer.

The Government of Ontario has been put on notice that the Drennans intend to file a lawsuit in 60 days that would block a proposed industrial wind turbine development close to their farm because it has the potential to cause serious health effects including sleep disturbance, cardiovascular disease, headaches, dizziness and psychological illness. Also included is an injunction to stop the Renewable Energy Approval process until federal and provincial health studies are completed and reported on.

Ontario has already commissioned a health study and Health Canada is now concerned enough to set up its own study. However, despite scores of reports from people suffering adverse health effects, Energy Minister Chris Bentley still contends there is no link between health problems and wind turbines and he is determined to push forward his wind energy program even though 80 municipalities have asked for a moratorium until health studies are completed and reported upon.

The Multi-Municipal Wind Turbine Working Group applauds the initiative of the Drennans and encourages all those who are able to provide financial support to send a cheque payable to their local citizens’ group, SEAR (Safe Wind Energy for all Residents) to Dave Hemingway, 78403 Whys Line Central Huron, R.R. #2, Bayfield, Ontario N0M 1G0.
