Lambton County Council has voted unanimously to support a moratorium on industrial wind turbines until a comprehensive wind study is completed.
Council chambers in Wyoming was packed in Wednesday afternoon with more than 40 county residents opposed to wind farm development.
People in Lambton Shores and Brooke Alvinston have reported getting sick due to wind turbines already operating in those municipalities, said Marcelle Brooks, speaking on behalf of the Middlesex-Lambton Wind Action Group.
“We’re very pleased to see unanimous support from council,” she said.
“We weren’t sure about (Sarnia’s) politicians, because this is a rural issue, but they are obviously paying attention.”
Health Canada expects to complete a health study on turbines in 2014.
More to come.
