Ancient monument turbine blows back

A developer will try again in a bid to build a wind turbine in Somerset next to an ancient monument.

In July Mendip District Council rejected the application by Brian Ingham to build the single wind turbine at Warren Farm, Masbury, not far from the Iron Age hillfort Maesbury Castle, near Wells.

The three-bladed 54m high construction would generate enough electricity to power a small village and stand two metres higher than Nelson’s Column.

Mr Ingham will appeal the council’s decision with central Government.
