Protest against turbines

South Wales Evening Post | www.thisissouthwales.co.uk 14 September 2012

A protest against wind farms is set to take place in the Swansea Valley to coincide with Owain Glyndwr Day on Sunday.

The event, being organised by action group Balchder Cymru in Pontardawe, is to protest about the huge turbines that are currently being placed on Mynydd Y Betws.

Protest spokesman Russell Gwilym Morris said: “Bring your posters and placards and banners, and remember your Glyndwr flags. The thing is in Cymru we produce more energy than we currently use, so why should we be used as a power pack for the rest of Britain?

“Why should we cover our hills and mountains for the benefit of giant corporations and a foreign state? Nuclear is not the answer and neither are monster turbines, have a think of how many homes, factories, hospitals and schools are in Cymru.”
