Changes proposed for wind project

ALLEGANY – No action was taken on a request for a wind turbine change during Monday’s Allegany Planning Board meeting that was attended by a number of residents who picketed the session earlier in the evening.

At the beginning of the meeting, planning board chairman Frank DeFiore informed the audience that no action would be taken on the request as the board had just received information Monday from EverPower Wind LLC regarding the specifics of the newly-proposed wind turbines.

EverPower officials recently proposed a change in the model of turbines that would be installed at a 29-turbine wind farm in the Knapp Creek and Chipmonk areas. The planning board has asked the company for additional information on the new models, however, before it makes a decision on whether to permit the request.

EverPower recently proposed to change the model of the wind turbine from the Nordex N100 presumably to the Nordex N117 model, which has larger rotors.
