The Sangamon County Board has stretched out a ban on new wind farm permit applications. The three month extension will give the board more time to update their ordinances on the wind energy systems. Current rules were created nearly seven years ago, and generators have gotten taller and more powerful since then. The county is getting input from residents and developers to help establish new set back distances between the wind power generators and homes.
