Ramps from eastbound I-94 closed for brief time to free stuck semitrailers carrying wide loads

PARMA TWP, MI – The on and off ramps from eastbound I-94 onto M-99 were closed for a brief time on Wednesday afternoon because three semitrailer loads were too wide for the ramps, lined with guardrails.

With some maneuvering, the stuck semitrailers, carrying pieces of a wind turbine, made it successfully onto M-99, Eaton Rapids Road, said Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Don Cherry.

Police from Springport and the sheriff’s office escorted the trucks into Eaton County, Cherry said.

He said the trucks were headed to Bad Axe, in the northern part of Michigan’s Thumb.

Police were called to the area at 12:42 p.m.
