An investigation has been launched into how a wind turbine component fell from the back of a truck during transportation to the Musselroe Wind Farm site overnight.

Hydro Tasmania said the incident happened about 4am this morning about a kilometre west of Gladstone on Waterhouse Road.

No one was injured in the incident, however there was some minor damage to the surface of the road.

A Hydro Tasmania spokesperson said that the wind farm component was not blocking Waterhouse Road, which remains open to traffic.

A road crew is currently repairing the minor damage to the road.

The spokesperson said that it was working with its contractor Vestas to determine the best way to reload the tower component on to a truck.

All up, 56 wind turbines will be in operation at the Musselroe Wind Farm.

Hydro Tasmania said the incident will not affected the wind farm’s construction schedule.
