North Lynn: 100m turbine plan backed

Lynn News | www.lynnnews.co.uk 1 September 2012

Plans for a 100 metre high wind turbine in North Lynn have been supported by borough council planning chiefs.

The application for land at KL Technology Ltd on Estuary Road has been recommended for approval by the West Norfolk Council planning committee at its meeting on Monday.

In their report to the committee, officials said the economic and environmental benefits outweighed concerns over the impact on the surrounding landscape, while English Heritage said the impact on heritage sites in the town would be “modest.”

The RSPB had voiced objections, but now say they will withdraw them subject to post-construction monitoring work being carried out, according to the report.

And officers said concerns over the possibility of shadow flicker from the turbine affecting neighbours could be tackled through the imposition of conditions.
