AM’s opposition against wind farm power lines

A Clwyd West AM has voiced his strong opposition to proposals for new over ground power lines to connect wind farms in rural Conwy and Denbighshire to the National Grid.

SP Energy Networks are working with a number of wind farm developers in North Wales to secure grid connections for energy projects in and around the Clocaenog Forest. Precise details of the route for the over-ground connection are yet to be finalised, but three corridors option are currently the subject of consultation.

Two of the corridor options run close to the village of Llannefydd, which held a public meeting on Thursday night, at which local residents raised concerns about health risks and the impact on the local landscape.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar said: “It does not surprise me to see growing opposition to the proposals and I expect that it is only set to increase in the coming weeks. I have already met with the company to put on record my strong opposition to these plans and I would encourage others to do so too.”
