Portsmouth will consider two options for repairing its broken wind turbine Tuesday night.
The turbine is on the agenda for Tuesday’s town council meeting, according to the Newport Daily News.
Town Finance Director David Faucher says the cheaper of the two options comes with a bill of over $611,000.
The turbine, atop a 213-foot tower, began malfunctioning in May and has been shut down since June. The trouble has been traced to a gear box.
Faucher says net income from the turbine for the next 16 years is expected to be somewhere between $684,000 and $787,000, depending on how much the town spends to fix it.
