TUNKHANNOCK – State police at Tunkhannock arrested Wade Doughlas Wright, 42, on charges he shot a woman in a vehicle.

Wright was arraigned Tuesday morning on five counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He was jailed at the Wyoming County Jail for lack of $250,000 bail.

State police allege Wright shot a 58-year-old woman from Clifford Sunday night near the Mehoopany wind farm project.

The woman was a rear seat passenger in a vehicle occupied by four other people, a 43-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman from Trucksville; and a 14-year-old boy and a 54-year-old woman from Shavertown. None of them was injured, state police said.

State police allege Wright was riding an ATV and approached a passing vehicle occupied by the five people. Wright told them they were trespassing and to leave.

As the vehicle passed, Wright fired a shot that missed the vehicle. He allegedly fired a second shot striking the woman in the shoulder, state police said.

State police said the woman was treated at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Aug. 22.
