I believe Bill Black, in his Aug. 8 column “Wind power looks better than Muskrat Falls,” is comparing apples and oranges.
Wind power can never displace power generation from fossil fuel or hydro generation until we find an economic means of storing wind energy for those times when the wind is not blowing.
Wind power is an intermittent and unpredictable source of electricity, unlike power from hydro projects such as Muskrat Falls.
Comparing the complexities of the agreements between wind energy and Muskrat Falls misses the point that wind energy will never replace conventional generation without storage, whereas Muskrat Falls can since it will be available all the time.
