The deadline for submissions for the proposed Bodangora Windfarm is over but there is still a hint of “game playing”going on.
The Times understands an independent chairman appointed to a wind farm information session actually wasn’t independent at all.
Mike Inster is the head of a lobby group called Boorowa Landcape Guardians, which is rallying against wind farms in the Yass and Boorowa area according a story attributed to the Yass Tribune. Mr Inster was the independent mediator at the wind farm meeting.
Mr Inkster said there were around 450 turbines proposed for around the Yass, Boorowa area and, once constructed, a huge number of residents would be able to see the 120 to 155 metre-tall structures.
“They can be seen from a great distance away and [many residents] will have at least visibility of these structures, especially if they’re flashing red at night,” Mr Inkster told the Tribune.
The wind farms situated in the southern part of NSW are the subject of a sell off which many believe will be sold to Chinese interests who are now heavily into the energy scene.
Meanwhile, the submissions from the Bodangora plan are with the NSW Planning Department who will compile them and then ask questions of the proponent Infigen Energy who are developers of the project.
There are also 450 windfarms proposed for the Wellington area its understood.
