Try wind power moratorium

Burlington Free Press | www.burlingtonfreepress.com 8 August 2012

Wind power plant moratorium time is here. We now have enough wind power plants either running or under construction in Vermont to test their long term viability. If after five years of continuous operation they are proven to be a reliable cost effective method of producing power in Vermont we can continue.

At present the per-KW cost appears to be double the average cost from other sources. Solar is around three times the average cost, but is dropping fast. Individuals can install solar on their houses without covering our ridge lines with power plants. In five years the technology of solar could lower the cost even more. The cost of building wind generators will not be going down. Wind power plants are not farms. We know what farms look like. Let’s start by saving Newark.
