Windfarm site traffic is blighting our village

A resident living next to what will soon be the region’s biggest windfarm says works traffic is blighting her village.

Catherine Rix complained to Northumberland County Council and developer RWE npower renewables over the impact of wagons passing her home at North Charlton, where construction on the 18-turbine Middlemoor windfarm is currently under way.

Mrs Rix said: “Since the start of construction we have a daily procession of massive lorries thundering up and down the road causing windows to rattle and ornaments on glass shelves to shake. They are also ignoring a 10mph speed limit directly behind the sign warning the road is not suitable for coaches.”

Martin Kelly, RWE npower renewables’ project manager, said: “We will remind our contractors to be courteous at all times and to adhere to the speed limit through North Charlton.”
