Public inquiry over Fraisthorpe wind farm

Hull Daily Mail | www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk 31 July 2012

EAST RIDING: A public inquiry will be held to decide whether plans for a nine-turbine wind farm can go ahead.

Fraisthorpe Wind Farm Ltd wants to build the farm on land at Manor Farm, off Main Street, in Fraisthorpe.

The company has appealed to the Planning Inspectorate after East Riding Council failed to consider the application in the statutory eight-week period.

The turbines will reach a height of 130 metres and the development will also include a meteorological mast.

There has been opposition by local residents, who fear the scheme could damage the natural beauty of the area and hit the tourism industry.

The company had originally planned to build 15 turbines but reduced the number to nine.

The appeal is likely to take place later in the year.
