Small victory for Keyneton wind farm challengers

Challengers of the Keyneton wind farm application had a small victory at a special meeting held in Cambrai on Tuesday afternoon, July 24.
Of the four separate motions raised by three councillors seeking to stop the development, motion four was carried.
This means Mid Murray Council now request the Development Assessment Commission, Development Policy Advisory Committee, Environment Protection Authority, Minister Rau and other related bodies, do not make a decision on the Pacific Hydro application until such a time as it (DAC) has commissioned, conducted, viewed and considered an independent noise study/review related to the Pacific Hydro application.
Mid Murray Council chief executive officer Russell Peate said a letter is currently being drafted by the council in response to the special meeting.
Mr Peate said once the document is complete, it would be viewed by the councillors and some residents before being sent on to the relevant parties.
About 55 people attended the special meeting, which according to those working against the development was an emotional gathering.
Mr Peate explained the meeting was restructured which gave the public an opportunity to be informed, attend and have their say.
Meanwhile, the DAC has formally advertised the lodgement of the Keyneton wind farm development. This means the public has until Wednesday, August 8, to submit a formal response to application. In addition, the Eastern Mt Lofty Ranges Landscape Guardians Inc will submit a comprehensive critique of the Pacific Hydro application following several recent workshops.
