It’s likely to be the largest-ever infrastructure project in dollar terms proposed for Seymour and now the public has a chance to have a say.
Infigen Energy’s proposed Cherry Tree wind farm is now the subject of a planning application to Mitchell Shire Council and the plans are being exhibited for 28 days at the Seymour Library.
The 50MW farm – with between 12 and 16 turbines – is planned to go on top of Cherry Tree Range, between Whiteheads Creek and Trawool.
It has drawn the ire of some nearby residents who are worried about everything from noise and visual impacts to the possibility it could be expanded.
Infigen development manager Laura Dunphy said the company and council would hold a community information session on the project at the Seymour Room of the council customer service centre in High St on August 8 between 4pm and 8pm.
It earlier held information days at Whiteheads Creek and Trawool, and also organised a bus tour of the community-owned Hepburn wind farm in the Macedon Ranges.
Infigen is looking at community ownership of one of the Cherry Tree turbines.
