NoPilrow’s Rooksbridge wind turbine fight speeds up

Western Daily Press | www.thisissomerset.co.uk 16 July 2012

A protest group fighting plans for four giant wind turbines on the Somerset Levels is going on the road to canvas support.

NoPilrow is horrified by proposals to site four 130m high masts near Rooksbridge close to the M5.

It is to hold a series of roadshows in villages over the next month.

Broadview Energy made a formal planning application to Sedgemoor District Council two weeks ago after months of consultation with locals. Broadview says the site is perfect for garnering green energy, and that the community could benefit from a community fund worth up to £750,000 over the farm’s lifetime.

Road shows will be held at: Mark Village Hall, July 24, 5pm-10pm; East Brent Village Hall, July 25, 4pm-9pm; The Wellington Arms, July 26, 4pm-9pm; The Wellington Arms, August 7, 4pm-9pm.
