Green energy should focus on solar, not wind

Muskegon is all excited about new green energy technologies (not a bad thing). They are especially taken with wind. Hopefully, they realize they have heard this siren’s song before.
History tells us the claims of wind power by Windtronics were off the charts. Present tense they are leaving Canada after taking millions and leaving substantial debt to private industries.
Now comes “big wind” through the Spanish company, Gamesea, and Rockford Berge. I hope it is clear to all that Spain is right behind Greece in European debt with its largest bank asking for tens of billions of bailout dollars. Add to that an unemployment rate of 24 percent. Beware you don’t fall for the same stories again.
Meanwhile, silently the solar cells at Grand Valley State University’s Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center are making high quality electrical power for 10 years without any maintenance at all for approximately 13 cents per kilowatt- hour That is without incentives! That number is at parity or better than the grid with no moving parts, no maintenance, no fuel, no pollution. Imagine if they were in the southwest part of the U.S. And that number 13 cents per kilowatt hour can be substantiated.
Behold the beauty of silence.
