Wind turbines everywhere you look

www.chathamdailynews.ca 4 July 2012

I recently travelled north to Port Elgin and over to Collingwood on a short trip.

North of Goderich you start to see existing industrial wind turbines coming into view and influencing the landscape.

Between Kincardine and Port Elgin, especially near the Bruce Power corridor, you see a massive concentration of turbines everywhere you look dominating the view.

This is what our Liberal provincial government and the wind energy developers are planning for our area and most of southern rural Ontario.

I also witnessed the creeping growth of the wind farms just east of Shelburne that are threatening to expand north to Georgian Bay and ruin some of the most beautiful rolling countryside that you can imagine.

I am appalled at this destruction of such a great resource for no good reason that has ever been actually proven.

I suggest that everyone should go and look at this industrial landscape and envision what it will be like to live beside this and have it in your face for in some cases the rest of your life.

I also witnessed, recently, a local meeting supposedly about wind turbines in a rural community setting. It reflected one of the many negative side effects to having wind turbines forced on rural Ontario.

There is anger, frustration and mistrust with political and big business entities driving this issue. Communities, friends and families are split and are at the end of their rope. It is wrecking the lives of people and the disregard for their problems is unconscionable. It is truly sad and again for no good reason.

It begs the question: ‘How has it ever come to such a sorry state of affairs?
