Second council opposes turbines

A second parish council has voted to oppose plans to build two wind turbines.

Nicholas Watts, of Casewick Farm, Tallington, has applied to South Kesteven District Council to build two 40m turbines on his land between Uffington and Tallington.

Tallington Parish Council discussed the plans on Wednesday and voted unanimously to oppose the application.

Uffington Parish Council made the same decision last week.

The decisions were based on Lincolnshire County Council’s recent change in guidelines, which states that turbines should not be built within 2km of historic monuments, parks and church steeples.

The council was told that both St Michael’s Church in Uffington and St Lawrence’s Church in Tallington were within this 2km zone.

South Kesteven District Council has not yet adopted the county council’s guidelines but is expected to announce the result of a consultation on wind farms in September.
