Hundreds say ‘no’ to windfarm

Hundreds of residents near Presteigne have given a resounding “no” to the proposed windfarm at the nearby Reeves Hill.

On Wednesday night Presteigne and Norton Town Council listened to an overwhelming no vote from local residents to Reeves Hill Wind Farm and a proposal for its access road.

Local residents in Norton Parish voted 92 per cent against both developments.

The survey was carried out by the Stonewall Hill Conservation Group (SHCG) and every resident in the parish was visited at least once, asked to vote for or against both projects, sign their name and complete their full address to prove they existed.

355 residents said no to both projects and only 24 said yes.

The individual questionnaires were handed in to the Town Council during its meeting to consider the road proposal.

A local resident, Sylvia Davies, said: “My family has farmed in Norton for over three generations and this development has severe consequences for us all in this beautiful valley both ecologically and in terms of noise disturbance.”
