Windfarms may be proving a boost to the local economy in general but it appears the turbines have an adverse effect when it comes to tourists’ perceptions of the county.
A new Failte Ireland survey has found tourists visiting Kerry viewed windfarms in a more negative light than oneoff housing in rural areas of the county.
The exit survey showed that tourists were aware of housing and weren’t very complimentary of the style and locations of a lot of the houses that dot the Kerry landscape.
However, when it came to structures having a negative impact on the landscape they were even less impressed by the prevalance of wind turbines around the Kerry countryside.
