Vandals attack Stop Dorcas Lane Wind Turbines banner

The Bucks Herald | www.bucksherald.co.uk 26 June 2012

Vandals have slashed and removed a banner protesting against plans to build wind turbines on land between Stoke Hammond, Soulbury and Hollingdon.

The Stop Dorcas Lane Wind Turbines Action Group put a number of banners in villages expected to be most affected by the proposed development of four 410ft turbines.

But one banner raised at the junction of the Wing, Soulbury and Linslade roads was ripped down and thrown into an adjacent livestock field.

Joseph Creswell, group vice chairman, said police had been told about the incident which took place during the night of June 19.

He said: “It’s the thought of someone creeping around in the dark with a knife.

“Anyone can knock on my door and have a conversation with me. What makes you prepared to go round with a knife and cut and slash the banner?

“It is difficult to fully understand the state of mind these vandals must have been suffering and the anger that this banner seems to have caused them.”
