The Ellis County Joint Planning Commission will have a public hearing to provide opportunity for public input on a requested conditional-use permit for two wind turbine generators at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the 601 Main meeting room.
The 77.5-meter tall turbines, proposed to be located at the southeast corner of Victoria Road and 200th Avenue would be located on property owned by Brian J. Staab and leased to Fort Hays State University.
According to the application, the two wind turbines will provide electrical energy to FHSU to offset commercially provided energy, with combined energy output of both generators amounting to 97 percent of the current energy consumption on the campus.
