Overblown claims

The wind industry doesn’t appear to believe in truth in advertising. A full-page ad in Saturday’s paper brazenly claims that wind energy produces “affordable power” and leads to a “brighter future” for Nova Scotia.
The truth is that wind power is far from affordable. Our government guarantees 13.1 cents per kilowatt hour for industrial wind power.
The wholesale price of electricity in Eastern Canada has averaged only 2.05 cents per kWh this year.
More wind power must lead to higher, less affordable, prices.
The truth is our rapidly increasing electricity rates already contribute to job losses.
There is nothing bright about subsidized industrial wind power. It darkens our economic outlook. It drains our pockets.
It sends our jobs to China and our children to Alberta.
